GCGR Survey: Distillation of Responses into Common Categories

Recommended Services and Values of GCGR:

  • Provide information for networking: consolidation of unreached people research documentation, regular realistic updates/reports on mission progress and for prayer networks, electronic form, knowledge of what others are doing in specific target area for collaboration, contacts for mission in 10/40 Window and globally, site for churches to find "how to info and contacts", list of people groups yet to be reached on line, secure information sharing to maintain trust
  • Build relationships and connect people in mission- honest broker to facilitate relationships, create linkages for mutual support, connect high profile leaders with grassroots workers for greater understanding through networking conferences, regional gatherings, security sensitive networking via Internet, demonstrate unity, oversee reconciliation within church and without, authentic international exchange between West and Two-Thirds World, enable community on global scale, connecting needs with resource people and resources for true sharing, website or chat room for connecting with others e.g. women's groups in mission, mechanism for interdisciplinary interaction, building trust between leaders for  increased multiethnic and transdenominational partnerships, incorporate young leaders into mainstream global mission leadership, effective cooperation and communication between national, regional and international levels
  • Enable better coordination and accountability - common point of reference for networks, help coordination and avoid duplication of mobilization and prayer efforts, forum for strategic direction and global trends in mission, hold agencies accountable for priorities, plans and performance
  • Communicate vision - provide vision for need for evangelization in different areas of world, keep AD2000 momentum, helping with problem of cold churches, yearly focus and marketing razz-ma-tazz, provide clear connection of believers in churches to one big global plan
  • Provide leadership/direction for new efforts- promote and forge global and regional partnerships, evangelization through Internet by non-Americans, preparation for "cyber church", form networks for rapid deployment teams for emergency situations, concerted prayer efforts, modeling obedience to Great Commandment, dependence on Holy Spirit, and commitment to truth and unity, sacrificial involvement in member care, avoiding insensitivity and desire to dominate or compete, inclusion of godly Roman Catholics and Orthodox in cooperative efforts and mutual learning, mobilization of youth worldwide and give mantle to leaders in 30's and 40's
  • Reflect on issues in mission- rethinking holistic concept of Gospel and its relationship to mission, update Lausanne Covenant for 21st century

Recommendations on Structure:

  • Electronic network through Internet, website with chat rooms based on interest group, secure,on line information, email to non-net users
  • Center/base with good office technology and communication facilities to serve as clearinghouse and provide coordination, central depot for mission information, statistics, definitions
  • Regional centers to facilitate unity and cooperative efforts
  • Network of interlinked ministries
  • Administrative setup to only coordinate, not control, not elitist
  • Regional gatherings of up to 50 focusing on specific tasks
  • Low-profile, flexible global networks
  • Decentralized, consensus-based, multicultural and international
  • Work through existing local and national cooperative bodies
  • National initiatives and partnerships with cross-pollination between continents and regions
  • Key leader congresses at country level to set goals and work together
  • Design ways to consolidate work of Lausanne and WEF without merging partners formally
